Whitbys all weather life boat The George and Mary Webb, suffered a catastrophic failure of the engine whilst rescuing a schooner sailing from Holland to Scotland.
The boat was able to make its way home but a second boat has been brought to Whitby whilst an assesment of the damage is being made.
No one was injured during the incident
